Product Description

Versatile

The D1 DAC is the perfect way to get great-sounding music not only from your computer but also from your TV, Apple TV, DVD/BluRay player or CD player. What’s more, as well as accepting a signal through the USB input, it also offers the option of an optical connection, which also has the benefit of accepting content of up to 192kHz/24-bit, rather than the USB connection’s 92kHz/24-bit limitation. The Audioengine is well-sorted for its primary (USB) function – it will work with both PCs and Macs without the need for any extra drivers on the computer and comes complete with a 2m USB cable.

Designed For the Computer Audiophile

With its high signal-to-noise ratio and low distortion, D1’s sound quality is usually only heard in more expensive DACs. If you listen to music with a set of headphones plugged into your computer, the D1 offers an immediate upgrade over the DACs, headphone amp, and dock on your computer. The high-performance headphone output was designed for a broad range of headphones and will satisfy even the most demanding headphone enthusiasts.

Easy Setup

Setup is easy and straightforward as no special software is needed, making D1 a true plug-and-play solution. The D1 outputs connect to any audio system or powered speakers, such as the Audioengine A5+ or A2. Power for the D1 is provided via the USB bus, so there is no external power supply to connect. Also, D1 uses Toslink digital input; it’s compatible with the digital output of an Apple TV, or other music players with Toslink available in a simple stereo system. To take advantage of this, you will need a USB power cord, but we believe the added improvement to be worthwhile.

See and Hear the Difference

Audio quality and visual aesthetics are the areas that Audioengine designers pay most attention to and have created a feast for both the eyes and ears. Keeping products simple and maintaining a high standard of excellence seems to be the overarching goal at Audioengine, and the D1 is no exception. The rounded anodized aluminum case of the D1 reflects the traditional Audioengine design and the audio fidelity is typical of Audioengine’s commitment to great sound at an affordable price. D1 is another masterpiece of artistry and technical prowess that close the gap between your computer music and home hi-fi and even if you’re not an audio enthusiast, be assured that your music will sound better!

D1 Internal Converter
The D1 uses the AK4396 DAC, which is well-regarded for its low noise and high fidelity. Due to the high signal-to-noise specs of the AK4396 and the added benefit of double redundancy power source conversion and filtering, the D1 presents impressive low noise and low distortion characteristics. The D1 can process digital audio at any bit depth up to 24-bits and any sample rate up to 192kHz.

D1 Headphone Amplifier
The D1 includes a headphone amp based on the TI OPA2134 low noise opamp. The high-performance headphone output was designed for a wide range of headphones and will satisfy even the most demanding headphone enthusiasts.

D1 Power
The D1 is powered directly from the USB bus and power is passed through two stages of regulation to ensure no USB bus power variations affect the audio quality.

D1 Volume Control
Volume is controlled directly from the D1 front panel via the digitally-controlled analog potentiometer.
